About Thomas Smithson
“Hello, I am Thomas Smithson. I am a performer and musical artist from London Ontario and have been singing and playing music of well over half of my life. Ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to play music for the rest of my life so naturally I turned to performance as a way to pursue music and art as a career.”
Thomas Smithson has had many performances as a vocalist both in ensembles and as a soloist. With many choir performances over the years both inside and outside of school his education, he has performed all over the world. A particular highlight of his choral career was the two years he was in the ‘National Boy Choir of Canada’, singing with choristers from across the country and performing across Canada and touring into Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and France. He currently performs in one of the choirs at Western University called the ‘Western University Singers’.
From a more classical standpoint Thomas Smithson has had featured performances singing in recitals Western, participating with his studio colleagues as well as planning my own 50 minute long solo recital. As well, earning jobs as a wedding singer and guitarist. He has also done multiple televised public broadcasted performances singing hymns for Sunday services at Siloam United Church in London Ontario.
Thomas has roots as a multi-instrumentalist beginning piano as a child around the age of 9 and teaching himself guitar/bass around the age of 14. Thomas Is also a very active recording artist releasing well over 60 of his own songs to date since 2019 between his solo music and music produced by his band ‘LOVERS’. Thomas also had the honour of taking home a 'Forest City London Music Award’ after winning the high school battle of the bands in 2019. He was also nominated for another music award in the 2021 award season for contemporary singer songwriter for his solo work. Thomas has become a very regular performer in his home town of London Ontario playing on average 2 shows a month with his band on top of opera, choir and recital performances for his education.
